(A lot of people suffer from burning soles. It is more commonly seen in people with diabetes.)
Symptoms of Burning feet:
People with burning feet usually have burning, pricking, tingling sensation, numbness in feet. These symptoms usually get aggravated at night. You want to apply oil, keep your feet out of your bed covers, put feet on the cold floor and wash your feet frequently. It also causes heaviness and discomfort in the feet.
Causes of burning soles:
One of the major causes of burning soles is Diabetes. It is usually seen in people with prolonged diabetes because when you have diabetes for a long period of time, it causes peripheral neuropathies.
Another common cause is B-complex or other vitamin deficiencies.
Neurologist suggests gabapentin or other medicines which controls the burning as long as you take them but once you stop the medicines, the burning is back and most of these medicines have terrible side effects.
Burning feet is a very common problem and we have a lot of patients who come for it. We see it mostly in diabetics. Once we start them on medications, it does take a little time for them to respond but over a period of time burning, discomfort, numbness, tingling comes down gradually. We ask them to continue the medicines for a few months and they are all doing fine.
People who are already on allopathic medication:
We ask them to stop their allopathic medication and we ask them to take Homeopathy for three months. Most people respond in about two to three months, some people take a longer time to respond.
What happens if you don’t treat burning soles?
Nothing much, but it is very uncomfortable at night. You will not be able to sleep properly at night, you move your legs here and there all the time to find some comfort. It becomes very irritating, you lose your sleep.
There are no diet restrictions, you can have whatever you want but if your diabetic levels are not in control, make sure that you are taking care of it.
Do’s and don’ts
Few things can give you temporary relief like applying coconut oil on the feet, dipping your feet in cold water, or water mixed with Epsom salt.
What would I do if I were in your place?
I would for sure not take any allopathic medicines. I know that I am not risking anything by giving Homeopathy around 3 to 6 months to try and get rid of burning feet.
Do not start allopathic medications until you have given Homeopathy a try for at least about three to six months. Trust me, nothing will happen to you in these 3 to 6 months but if these medicines can help you get rid of burning feet/soles permanently, isn’t it worth giving it a try?
Take care. Stay safe.
