A HOLISTIC LECTURE ON MIND, BEHAVIOUR AND NEURODIVERGENT CHILDREN

INTRODUCTION

WHY HOMOEOPATHY AND PSYCHOLOGY CANNOT BE SEPARATED

This is only an introduction.
We are just beginning to explore something very important.

When we talk about a holistic approach, we cannot separate Homoeopathy from Psychology.

Why?

Because homoeopathy does not treat only the body.
It treats the mind, emotions, and behaviour as well.

And the moment we talk about the mind, we are talking about psychology.

WHAT IS PSYCHOLOGY?

Psychology is the scientific study of:

  • Behaviour
  • Thoughts
  • Emotions
  • Actions

In simple words, psychology studies:

  • How we think
  • How we feel
  • How we behave

A person who studies and works in this field is called a Psychologist.

WHO IS THE BEST PSYCHOLOGIST IN THE WORLD?

Let me ask you a simple question.

Who do you think is the best psychologist you can ever meet?

Someone who:

  • Understands emotions
  • Reads behaviour
  • Knows what you need without words
  • Listens without judgement

Most of you here have already met the best psychologist in the world.

THE BEST PSYCHOLOGIST IS: THE MOTHER

Yes.
Your mother.

But there is a condition.
There is an asterisk attached.

THE ASTERISK

THE AGE LIMIT OF A MOTHER’S MAGIC

A mother is the best psychologist only until the child is about 4 to 6 years old.
(In some cases, up to 8 years.)

Before this age:

  • The child cries → the mother knows the child is hungry
  • The same cry → the mother knows the child is sleepy
  • The same cry → the mother knows the child needs comfort

A mother can read the child like a book.

No textbook teaches this.
No degree gives this power.

WHY DOES THE MOTHER “LOSE” THIS ABILITY?

After the age of 4 to 8 years, something changes.

The child:

  • Goes to school
  • Meets teachers
  • Makes friends
  • Enters society

Many people think:

  • The child has changed
  • The child is at fault

But that is not true.

THE REAL REASON

DEVELOPMENT OF SELF-CONCEPT

In psychology, we call this stage Self-Concept Development.

What is Self-Concept?

Self-concept means:

  • “Who am I?”
  • “What do I like?”
  • “What do I want?”

Before the age of 4:

  • The child has no self-concept
  • The child is like water
  • Whatever colour the mother adds, the child takes that colour

So there is no personality conflict.

After self-concept develops:

  • The child develops their own identity
  • The child’s personality may clash with the mother’s personality

This is when the mother loses the “magic”.

WHY IS THIS STORY IMPORTANT FOR DOCTORS AND THERAPISTS?

This story is deeply connected to:

  • Homoeopathic Doctors
  • Psychologists
  • Psychotherapists
  • Therapists working with:
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD – Autism Spectrum Disorder)
    • ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
    • ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder)
    • ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder)
    • Neurodivergent children

HOMOEOPATHY, MENTALS, AND RUBRICS

(FULL TERMS)

In Homoeopathy, we study:

  • Mental symptoms
  • Emotional symptoms
  • Behavioural expressions

These are recorded as:

  • Mentals – mental and emotional symptoms
  • Rubrics – standardised symptom headings used in repertories

When you read mentals and rubrics correctly, you are using the mother inside you.

WHAT MAKES GREAT HOMOEOPATHIC DOCTORS DIFFERENT?

When I observe great homoeopaths around the world, one thing stands out.

They are:

  • Free-flowing
  • Without ego (“I”)
  • Without prejudice
  • Deep observers

Because of this, they:

  • Read body language better
  • Understand emotions better
  • Notice contradictions better

CASE-TAKING

YOU ARE THE TOOL AND THE OBSTACLE

In case-taking:

  • You are the tool
  • You are also the hurdle

If you carry:

  • Cultural conditioning
  • Prejudice
  • Ego (“I know”)

You will miss the case.

The key question is:

Can you dissolve yourself while taking a case?

This is called observing in Wholesome Totality.

OBSERVING THE OBSERVER

Most people cannot observe clearly because:

  • They do not observe themselves

Ask yourself:

  • How resolved am I as a human being?
  • What prejudices do I carry?
  • How strong is my “I”?

A REAL CLINICAL EXAMPLE

A homoeopathic doctor came to me crying.

She said:

  • “I treat others very well.”
  • “But I cannot cure my own sister.”

Why?

Because she could not:

  • Detach emotionally
  • See her sister as a patient
  • Become an external observer

This happens to many doctors.

THE FIRST MAJOR TAKEAWAY

If you learn to:

  • Drop prejudice
  • Drop ego
  • Observe yourself

Your ability to:

  • Pick correct mentals
  • Choose correct rubrics

Will improve by 20–30%.

NORMAL VS ABNORMAL

A VERY IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE

Especially in children, we must be very careful with these words.

Psychological Definition:

Abnormal is the extreme of normal.

Normal and abnormal are not opposites.
Abnormal is normal taken to an extreme.

SEPARATE THE CHILD FROM THE BEHAVIOUR

Examples:

  • A rebellious teenager ≠ an ODD child
  • Cleanliness ≠ Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

The key question is:
Does the behaviour disturb basic functioning at:

  • Home
  • School
  • Social environment?

NEURODIVERGENT CHILDREN

A CHANGE IN THINKING

Neurodivergent means:
Brains that work differently, not wrongly.

These children are:

  • Not dumb
  • Not a problem
  • Often highly intelligent

Many great scientists were neurodivergent.

NOT A DIFFICULT CHILD — A DIFFERENT CHILD

Please remember this sentence:

“It is not a difficult child.
It is a child that needs to be handled differently.”

Use this sentence with parents.
You will receive blessings.

THE BIGGEST PARENTING MYTH

Parents often say:
“My first child was normal.”

This is not the second child’s fault.

Children do not apply to be born.

ONE COMMON ISSUE IN NEURODIVERGENT CHILDREN

The most common issue is rigidity:

  • Active rigidity
  • Passive rigidity

This is not misbehaviour.
This is a processing limitation.

SCREEN TIME

THE SIMPLE SOLUTION

If you want to reduce screen time:
Increase good time.

For a child:
Love is not spelled L-O-V-E
Love is spelled Q-T-I-M-E (Quality Time)

Children copy parents.
Reduce your own screen time first.

A CASE OF VIOLENCE IN A CHILD

A child was violent towards siblings.

The reasons were:

  • The child was hit earlier → learned violence
  • Parents argued with an autistic child

Important rule:

Never argue with autistic or ADHD children.

Their brain processing speed is different.

Instead of saying “NO”,
Offer an alternative.

FINAL MESSAGE

COLLABORATIVE HEALING

Healing neurodivergent children is not about:

  • One person
  • One medicine

It is about:

  • Family counselling
  • Parent training
  • Therapist collaboration
  • Homoeopathy + Psychology

CONCLUSION

Become:

  • A psychologist within
  • A mother without prejudice
  • An observer of the observer

Only then will you:

  • Read between the lines
  • See the whole picture
  • Select better mentals and rubrics
  • Become a better homoeopathic doctor

This is only the beginning.
