PANIC ATTACK, ANXIETY, Severe Shortness of Breath, Choking Sensation, Sleep Problems and Constant Anger
A Successful Treatment Case
By Dr. Hussain Kaisrani – DHMS, BHMS, BSc, MS (UK)
Introduction
Six months ago, a 30-year-old woman (Mrs H) contacted me from United Kingdom. She is a mother of three children and has been living in the UK for the past ten years. She belongs to a well-educated family from Islamabad, Pakistan.
On the strong recommendation of a family friend, she reached out to me because her health problems had become confusing, distressing, and untreatable for local doctors.
Only a few months earlier, she had been in excellent health. She had not required regular medical care or medication for many years. Suddenly, she developed severe shortness of breath, a choking sensation, insomnia, emotional instability, and constant anger. Her daily life became extremely difficult.
Medical Investigations in the UK
Due to worsening symptoms, she contacted the National Health Service (NHS).
The following investigations were carried out:
- Multiple Laboratory Tests
- Several Electrocardiograms (ECG – Electrocardiography)
- Hospital admission for close monitoring
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the lungs
All reports were either normal or non-specific. Doctors finally concluded that:
- There was no heart disease
- There was no lung disease
- The condition was not caused by any structural or organic illness
The medical opinion was that her symptoms were related to:
- Mental Stress
- Anxiety Disorder
- Psychological Pressure
No medication was prescribed.
Although it was reassuring that all tests were normal, the patient was left struggling with severe breathlessness and emotional distress.

Root Cause – Emotional Trauma

A recent visit to Pakistan exposed the patient to:

For a woman whose personality was centred around:
- Perfection
- Discipline
- Order
- Family honour
- Personal dignity
This experience caused a deep emotional shock.
Her inability to immediately return to Pakistan and clear her name resulted in:

The constant mental unrest eventually expressed itself through the lungs.
