Abscess is the collection of pus in skin (boils) or anywhere in the body. The remedies below are for acute abscesses. The correct homeopathic remedy can either help the abscess to open or to be absorbed by the organism (both are curative reactions)For chronic or recurring abscesses, one should look for the constitutional remedy.

Abscess with splinter-like pains.
Is the great homeopathic remedy for suppurations where the pus is not decomposed.
“Hepar acts on abscesses before they open, Calc-s. after.” (Chounhuri).
Hep. may open the abscess and hasten the cure (Sil.).
Boils recur in the same location. The discharge is offensive. The smell like old cheese is a keynote for Hep.
Excessive sensitiveness of the affected parts.
Chilly individuals.
Abscesses of the inguinal glands, axillary glands, paronychia, gums or anywhere.

Abscesses in chilly individuals who perspire in feet or head.
Abscesses developing around foreign bodies and silica promotes expulsion of foreign bodies from tissues.
Worse exposing the head or back to any slight draft of air. Hard and indurated boils. Carbuncles and chronically draining fistulas. The pus is apt to be thin, watery, offensive and the process is sluggish.
Abscesses have much cellular infiltration in near tissues.
Rectal fistulas. Bartholin glands suppurations. Thigh, legs. Neck or back. Ingrowing toenails.
Carbuncles between the nape of the neck and the shoulder blades.

Intolerably painful, dark-red or blackish carbuncles that resolve slowly and with difficulty, even after a long period of discharging.
Severe burning sensation (Ars., Tarent-c., Sulph.).
Induration of cellular tissue, lymph nodes and all inflammation of connective tissue in which there exists a purulent focus.
Abscess of septum.

Small painful boils, great soreness, purplish in color.
Abscesses and boils do not mature; they shrivel up, then another crop comes. Arnica will often develop the abscess, carrying it on to a discharge of the pus and a cure of the trouble.
Arnica is indicated in boils coming in crops.
Symmetrical lesions.
Abscess of mammae.
Painful to touch. Pain as if bruised.

Intense throbbing which is painful. Pus develops speedily.

Glandular abscesses; the pus is greenish, thin and offensive. Also, in chronic or recurrent abscesses.
There is intense, shining redness with throbbing and stinging pains.

Suppurative tonsillitis. Stomatitis, sometimes with swelling of the cervical and submaxillary glands.

Abscesses of the parotid or axillary glands where there is a discharge of a bloody, serous pus.
The pain is intense, and the swelling is dark red. Axillary abscess after delivery.

Abscesses and suppurations especially in chronic recurring boils anywhere on the body.
Oily skin. The discharge is profuse.
The pus is acrid, yellow and offensive.
