Apart from the following remedies one can give another remedy according to the symptomatology.
AGRAPHIS NUTANS
Keywords: ADENOIDS WITH NASAL OBSTRUCTION, ENLARGED TONSILS.
Clarke regarded this remedy as a leading one in cases of adenoids (often during dentition).
Obstruction of the nostrils from adenoids.
Deafness; breathes with mouth open.
It is essentially a catarrhal remedy and acts especially on the glands connected with the nasal cavity.
Tendency to free discharge from mucous membranes.
Modalities
Worse: cold winds (Sil.).
BARYTA CARBONICA
Keywords: ENLARGED TONSILS, RECURRENT TONSILITIS, IMMATURITY IN ALL PLANES, LACK OF SELF CONFIDENCE, AVERSION TO FRUITS.
The patient depends on other people, needs protection and behaves in a childish way.
Timid patients who suffer from enlargement of the lymphatic glands, especially cervical, parotid, inguinal and axillary.
ENLARGED TONSILS, recurring attacks of acute tonsillitis.
Aversion to fruits is a strong symptom of the remedy.
Modalities
Worse: cold, becoming cold.
CALCAREA FLUORICA
Keywords: ENLARGE ADENOIDS WITH YELLOWISH-GREEN NASAL DISCHARGE.
Enlarged adenoids and thick, yellowish green discharge from the nose. Think of the remedy after Baryta carbonica has failed.
It is similar to Silica in suppuration.
The patient is sensitive to cold and drafts.
Modalities
Worse: during rest, changes of weather.
Better: heat, warm applications.
CALCAREA PHOSPHORICA
Keywords: DISCONTENT, NEEDS CHANGE, SENSITIVE TO DAMP, ADENOID GROWTH WITH NASOPHARYNX OBSTRUCTION.
Calcarea phosphorica is DISCONTENT , NEEDS CHANGE and desires to travel. Sensitive to DAMP WEATHER .
Adenoid growths in POST-NASAL SPACE AND PHARYNX.
Impaired hearing, amounting almost to deafness, from hypertrophy of the tonsils or from adenoid growths.
Chronic enlargement of the tonsils, with an aversion to opening the mouth. If it is opened all the same, e.g. for yawning, there is a sore pain felt in the tonsils.
The remedy is also indicated in adenoid growths which can entirely obstruct the nasopharynx.
In children we may also see emaciation, slow learning to walk and talk, arrested development and fontanels that remain open for a long time.
CISTUS CANADENSIS
Keywords: CERVICAL ADENOPATHY, SENITIVE TO COLD AIR, DESIRE FOR CHEESE, COLD SENSATIONS.
In thin individuals WITH EXTREME SENSITIVENESS TO COLD AIR, catching cold very frequently (Calc.).
COLD SENSATIONS in the nose and pharynx that become worse when inhaling cold air. Sore throat from inhaling least cold air.
Cervical adenopathy. Strings of glands in neck.
Sensation of heat and dryness in the throat so intense that the patient must drink to relieve or swallow saliva all the time in order to wet it.
Every mental agitation increases the suffering very much, like stitching pain in the throat or provoke cough.
Desire for CHEESE and sour fruits are strong confirmatory symptoms.
Modalities
Worse: COLD, inhaling cold air.
Better: after eating.
HYDRASTIS CANADENSIS
Keywords: VISCID, ROPY DISCHARGES, IRRITABILITY, CONSTIPATION.
Irritability. Curses his mother, throws food or medicine across room.
Hydrastis has yellow mucus VISCID, ROPY DISCHARGES (Kali-bi.) and general lymphoid hypertrophy usually with constipation.
Goitre of puberty and pregnancy.
Modalities
Worse: after emissions.
Better: milk.
TUBERCULINUM BOVINUM
Keywords: FAMILY HISTORY OF TUBERCULOSIS, GRINDING OF TEETH AND SWEATING DURING NIGHT, DESIRES COLD MILK & SMOKED MEAT.
FAMILY HISTORY OF TUBERCULOSIS.
GRINDING OF TEETH DURING SLEEP. Night sweats. Allergy to cats.
There is great desire for COLD MILK, SMOKED MEAT (esp. bacon, ham, pork), fat and bananas.
Modalities
Worse: change of weather or temperature, wet weather, cold in general, seashore.
Better: warm and dry weather, in the mountain, open air.
