Main remedy:
Illicium (Anisum stellatum)
Illicium is the most frequent remedy for baby colics.
“So-called three-months’ colic, especially if it recurs at regular hours; much rumbling in abdomen”. (Boericke).
Other remedies:
Belladonna
The characteristic of Belladonna in baby colics is the baby is relieved when we hold it in a prone position (lying on the abdomen).
Borax
The great keynote of Borax is the aggravation from downward motion. The child cries and screams on the act of being laid down onto the bed. Children needing Borax may startle in sleep as if frightened.
Startling easily from noises.
Colocynthis
The baby has agonizing pain and the characteristic is that it is drowning up its legs towards the abdomen.
Lycopodium
The baby needing Lycopodium has frequent eructations which temporarily relief the pains.
The baby also has rumbling of the abdomen.
Natrium sulphuricum
If the baby is better and stops crying after passing flatus, then we must think of Natrium sulphuricum.
