Early Signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder & ADHD Explained Clearly.
By Dr Hussain Kaisrani, Psychotherapist & Homeopathic Doctor
As a parent, you know your child best. Some behaviours might leave you confused or concerned.
Spotting early signs of neurodivergence, like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD or ODD; s the first step to getting the right support.
Here is a simple checklist of key signs to watch for in young children.
Early Signs of Autism & Neurodivergence: A Simple Checklist
Ask yourself these questions about your child’s behaviour:
- Physical Habits: Do they often walk on their tiptoes?
- Social Engagement: Do they play alone at the park, avoiding other children?
- Unusual Focus: Do they stare intently at spinning objects like fans or washing machines?
- Response to Name: When you call their name, do they not look or respond? (Many children get a hearing test first, which often shows no problem.)
- Non-Verbal Communication: Do they not point at things they want or at body parts when asked by age 1.5-2 years?
- Lack of Social Smile: When you smile at them, do they not smile back?
- Speech & Understanding: Is there a delay in talking or following simple instructions (e.g., “bring your plate”)?
- Activity Level: Are they extremely hyperactive and unable to sit still?
Why Early Recognition is So Important
There is no blood test for Autism. Diagnosis comes from observing these behaviours.
If you notice several of these signs consistently by age 2, it is a strong indicator to seek professional advice.
Golden Rule: The sooner support begins, the better the potential outcomes for your child’s development and wellbeing.
How Homeopathy Offers Gentle Support
At Hussain Kaisrani Homeopathic Consultancy, we work in supporting neurodivergent children and their families. Homeopathy is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that works alongside other treatments.
It focuses on the individual child; their unique personality, sensitivities and challenges. The goal is to support emotional balance, improve focus and ease behavioural difficulties from within.
If this checklist resonates with you, do not wait. Consult your paediatrician or a child development specialist for an assessment. Early intervention is the key to empowerment.
