BELLADONNA
Right side is contracted with inflammation.
Stiffness of cervical region with painful swelling.
Inflammation and painful swelling of submaxillary glands and glands of neck with hardness.
SUDDEN onset of torticollis.
AGG: bending head backward.
CALCAREA CARBONICA
Stiffness and rigidity of nape of neck.
Pain in neck on turning head, as if a hard form would protrude there.
Strain after over lifting.
Perspiration in the cervical region during first part of sleep.
CAUSTICUM
One of the main remedies of torticollis.
STIFFNESS of the cervical region. Tension and in one side of the neck. The tension feels as if muscles were too short.
Muscles feel as if bound; can hardly move the head.
Aggravation by dry cold weather. Exposure to dry cold air can immediately affect the nervous system, especially peripherally.
Disposition to hawk.
CIMICIFUGA
STIFFNESS, rigidness, and tension of the muscles of neck.
Torticollis after exposure to cold air.
There is pain which is worse from motion. Even motion of the hands causes pain. Turning the head is almost impossible; cramps on moving the head.
Rheumatic pains: the muscles involved are extremely sore and tender, aching deep in the muscles of the back, myalgia from severe colds.
COLCHICUM
Torticollis with paroxysms of anguish, dyspnoea, beating of heart, especially at night.
Pressing pain or tension in cervical muscles, worse when swallowing; rheumatic pains in neck and back, on motion.
DULCAMARA
Torticollis after exposure to cold wet weather or getting wet (Rhus tox.).
Neck stiff, back painful, loins lame; entire spine sensitive.
Suited in domineering patients preoccupied with family matters.
IGNATIA
Torticollis from emotions or after grief, even opisthotonos with head drawn powerfully back.
Hysterical symptoms: the patient can tremble or suffer from torticollis.
Spasms of the neck.
Sighing.
LACHNANTHES
Torticollis: neck stiff, head drawn to one side; pain in the nape as if-dislocated, when turning the neck or bending the head backward.
Pain and stiffness in neck, going over whole head and down nose, as if pinching nostrils together; when turning head or bending it backward, pain in nape as if from dislocations.
Chilliness between the shoulder blades.
Head feels enlarged; worse, least noise.
LYCOPODIUM
Mostly right sided pain and tension going also to the left not in the same grade
Symptoms worse in the afternoon (about 4 to 8 pm).
Right side of neck stiff and swollen; cervical glands swollen.
NUX VOMICA
Torticollis, after anger, or from exposure to cold.
Neck stiff, with heaviness from cold; tension, burning, pressure, as from a stone between scapulae; sudden stitches in back when turning.
PHOSPHORUS
TORTICOLLIS – accompanied by joints inflammation.
Neck worse on left side. Sensitive, stiff, cramping, burning.
Much thirst.
RHUS TOXICODENDRON
STIFF NECK, with painful tension when moving, spinal membranes inflamed, from getting wet or sleeping on damp ground.
Stiffness of the whole neck, which ameliorates with warm applications.
From injury, over lifting or over use.
Restlessness in bed.
AMEL: warm.
