We get patients who have been suffering from urticaria for years and have been able to help them. We have been able to help them get off anti allergens. Homeopathy is probably the only solution for urticaria to treat it totally from its roots.

What is urticaria?
You suddenly wake up in the morning or you suddenly start to scratch and when you start scratching you find a pinkish red rash that is forming on the hands, face, chest, or anywhere in the body.
They are itchy, raised, hot, pinkish-red rashes. It goes on bothering you for a few hours, sometimes a day, and then it disappears. It completely goes away that you do not know what went wrong at all. This is called urticaria or hives.
In some people, their lips get swollen, either the lower lip or upper lip, your earlobes or eyes might get swollen, you may get it all over your body. Some people come with pink-coloured lines on the body. You scratch their skin with your nails and you will find a raised line appearing there. These are different presentations of urticaria or hives.
Causes of Urticaria:
Urticaria is an allergic reaction of the body to something. It could be something you eat, drink, stress, air, hot shower, shampoo, oil, or something you apply to your body. It could be a whole lot of things, it is very difficult to figure out what you are allergic to.
I have known people who suffer from urticaria for years together, I have had people coming to me suffering from urticaria for 25 to 30 years, and this is called chronic urticaria.
Urticaria which just comes and goes away, once or twice is nothing to be worried about.
Allopathic approach:
In allopathy, the first line of treatment is antihistamines or anti-allergy tablets like cetirizine or avil, you feel better when you take it but it comes back, you take another tablet and you feel better but the next day it comes back again.
You go to the dermatologist, they will give you anti-histamines for a month and you are fine. You go on taking it for months but once you stop it, the rashes and itching come back.There are people who take anti-allergens for years together, but if you take them for a long period they have side effects and these medicines are not solving your problem, they are just keeping it in control.
In severe cases, they put you on steroids, in very serious cases where the urticaria affects the respiratory tract it causes breathlessness and you have to be admitted or you have to take steroid injections. In the US and other advanced countries, they carry the pen, they warn the patient’s that in case of emergency you take a shot so that you do not die because of breathlessness but in my 30 years of practice, I have not seen anything like that happen. It is an exaggerated thing, it does not happen to most people
Homeopathic approach:
We believe that urticaria happens when the body is reacting to something. It is difficult to find out what is causing urticaria, you do a series of tests and you come across 10 to 20 things that you are allergic to, all these things are something that you come in contact with on a day-to-day basis. How can you stay away from these things? It is practically not possible, you cannot live your life not touching this and that. It doesn’t work, we need to have a solution.
Homeopathic medicines stop your body from reacting to these Allergens. Over a period of time, we improve your immune system so that your body does not react to whatever you are allergic to. Even if they are exposed to the allergens, nothing happens. Of course, it takes time, because the change has to happen from the inside, not from the outside.
We have been successful in getting rid of antihistamines for lots of people and we have been treating them with Homeopathy. Over a period of time, we have been able to stop homeopathy also and they are doing very well.
People who are already on allopathic medication:
We make them stop their allopathic medication and we ask them to take Homeopathy for three months. In some cases where the urticaria is chronic, we start homeopathic medicines along with anti-histamines, and over a period of time, we taper off their allopathic medicines and use it only as an SOS which means only when necessary. Most people respond in about three to six months, there are some people that take a longer time to respond.
What happens if you don’t treat urticaria?
If left untreated, the urticarial rashes will become more frequent and itching becomes severe. The rashes which usually stay for 2-4hrs will stay for the whole day, basically the frequency and the intensity of urticaria increases. It can become chronic in some cases.
Diet restrictions:
There are no diet restrictions to follow (unless you are allergic to something try to avoid it in the beginning but gradually include it in your diet.)
What would I do if I were in your place?
I would for sure not start on antihistamines or steroids, I know that I am not risking anything by giving Homeopathy around 3 to 6 months to try and get rid of urticaria.
Do not start on any antihistamines or steroids until you have given homeopathy a try for at least about three to six months. Trust me, nothing is going to happen to you in these three to six months’ time. Homeopathy has fantastic medicines for urticaria and if these medicines can help you avoid the side effects of antihistamines, steroids and get rid of urticaria permanently for the rest of your life, isn’t it worth giving it a try?
