LABOR PROBLEMS – HYPERTENSION–PREECLAMPSIA – Top Main Homeopathic remedies

RIGID OS–FAILURE TO DILATE–PROBLEMS OF EXPULSION, PRETERM LABOR, “FALSE” LABOR

Main remedies:

CAULOPHYLLUM

Contractions sharp, spasmodic, at the lower part of the pelvis.

Changeable pains located at bladder, groin, thighs.

Generalized weakness exhaustion.

Soft uterus even at the peak of the contraction.

Trembling, shaking may be present.

Neuralgias, rheumatic pains.

Irritating profuse vaginitis.

Can be used in failure to dilate but also in premature and “false” labor.

CIMICIFUGA

Presentiment of failure about pregnancy, labor or parenting, “I can’t do it”.

Contractions like Caulophyllum in the lower part of the uterus.

Abnormal contractions from side to side or down into hips and thighs.

Nervous excitation, trembling, convulsions, choreiform movements.

Occipital headache can be present extending down the neck.

Chilly patients, < from cold, damp weather.

Alternating symptoms.

GELSEMIUM

Failure to dilate with generalized exhaustion.

Trembling, shivering.

PULSATILLA

Usually indicated in early labor but used also for problems with expulsion, bleeding or retained placenta.

BELLADONNA

Headache or other pains of sudden onset < from slight jar.

Dilated pupils or wild expression.

CHAMOMILLA

Extreme sensitivity or intolerance of pain.

Loose stools, or flatulence.

NUX VOMICA

Labor is obstructed by a full bladder or rectum.

Painful and ineffectual urge to urinate or defecate due to contraction of muscles of perineum or pelvic floor.

KALI CARBONICUM

Posterior presentation of baby.

RETAINED PLACENTA

Main remedies:

PULSATILLA

In the absence of other indications, first remedy to consider for retained placenta.

Need for affection, attention, reassurance.

> open air.

If contractions are weak or non-existent.

SEPIA

When there are no guiding symptoms to suggest other remedies, the second remedy to consider after Pulsatilla.

Bearing down sensation in genitals.

May have sharp, shooting pains in the cervix.

Chilly, cold hands and feet, sensitive to cold, but flushes of heat.

Wants to be covered.

CAULOPHYLLUM

After pains in lower pelvis or bearing down sensation.

Exhaustion after long labor.

Uterus doesn’t stay contracted.

Hypotonic uterine bleeding.

CIMICIFUGA

Retained placenta with dysfunctional uterine contractions, severe pains, or no contractions.

Labor like pains cease with the hemorrhage.

Irrational fears, anxiety, nervous agitation, shivering, trembling.

Alternating symptoms.

She seems fine, then becomes hysterical with the pains.

Other remedies:

BELLADONNA

Profuse flow of blood that coagulates quickly.

Face is red and hot, vagina.

NEWBORN RESUSCITATION

Main remedies

ARNICA

After traumatic birth, if bruising or cephalhematoma are present.

Stunned autonomic reflexes, diminished response.

CARBO VEGETABILIS

Inadequate oxygenation.

Baby cyanotic, slow to respond but still breathes unassisted.

ARSENICUM ALBUM

Severely depressed babies with no activity and no respiration effort.

OPIUM

Similar to Arsenicum when the baby is pale and unresponsive.

Respiratory pauses during sleep.

In premature newborns.

ANTIMONIUM TARTARICUM

Respiratory distress with fluid accumulation and rattling in the lungs.

Meconium aspiration.

Immaturity.

Surfactant deficiency disorder.
