How common is fistula?
Around 10 in 100,000 people suffer from fistula.
What is a fistula?
One day you suddenly realize that you have a throbbing kind of pain in the anal region, you don’t know what it is. You have a lot of discomfort and pain when you sit, stand, or walk. After three or four days, there is a lot of discharge, your underwear is wet and then you realize something has burst or before it bursts itself, you go to the doctor, the doctor will check and tell you that you got a perianal abscess.
It always starts as a boil, it naturally bursts on its own and it is very painful. It comes and bursts, you are fine with it. The problem is when it keeps coming back again and again, then it is called as recurrent abscess which leads to a fistula.
The abscess comes, bursts and there is pus discharge, after some time it comes back again and the cycle continues. Every time it comes back it goes deeper and deeper. This is called as fistula.
Symptoms of fistula:
You suddenly have pain for 2 to 3 days then the abscess bursts, there is discharge for about a week to 10 days after that you feel alright. After 10-15 days the pain comes again, the abscess bursts and the cycle continues. It goes deeper and deeper every time your abscess bursts.
Allopathic approach:
In allopathy the only treatment is surgery. A lot of people get it scooped out but it comes back again, you get it scooped again. It comes back again, this cycle goes on, and there is no end to this.
Homeopathic approach:
When a patient comes with an anal fistula, I always say it is a pain in the ass because there is no quick treatment for fistula in any system of medicine.
Once you start homeopathic medications, the frequency of abscess comes down. People who get abscess every 15 days, once we start them on medications, the episodes which used to come every 15 days will come down to once in every 20, 30 or 60 days, or once in three months, nine months, and it gradually heals. This is not something that cannot be taken care of in a hurry, fistula always takes time.
But what is your other option? Your other option is surgery, you go for a surgery, trust me it always comes back. The pain and the recovery period of going through the surgery are long. I would say it is better to be on Homeopathic medicines than go for a surgery unless it is very acute that you are not able to bear the pain. I have also heard of thread treatment, which is ayurvedic or Unani, I have heard that it is successful, but there are people who come back to us after thread treatment as well.
We have been able to help a lot of people with fistula. It takes a long time and you need to be patient. But this is the most harmless, painless, and safest way to treat your fistula.
What happens if you don’t treat fistula?
The fistula tract cannot heal by itself, so if left alone it keeps increasing and leads to more complications.
Diet restrictions:
You need to be careful about what you eat, avoid food that causes excess heat in the body. Drink a lot of water, buttermilk, coconut water.

What would I do if I were in your place?
I would for sure not start allopathic medications or go for surgery. I know that I am not risking anything by giving Homeopathy around 6 months to try and get rid of the fistula.
Do not go for a surgery or start on any allopathic medications until you have given Homeopathy a try for at least about three to six months. Trust me, nothing is going to happen to you in these three to six months’ time. But if these medicines can help you avoid surgery, prevent recurrence, and get rid of fistula permanently for the rest of your life, isn’t it worth giving it a try?
