Allergic rhinitis:
This is the most common condition that we get in our clinic. This can affect children and adults. Some people suffer for years together. We get a lot of patients who have allergic rhinitis or those who are on allopathic medications, coming to us asking us if we can help them.
How common is allergic rhinitis:
Globally, around 10 to 30% of people suffer from allergic rhinitis.
What is allergic rhinitis?
Allergic rhinitis is a condition where you wake up in the morning and you start sneezing. Some people have 2 to 3 sneezes, some people have 10, 20, 40, 50, or 100 sneezes. Once the sneezing starts, it goes on and on, then you have a runny nose, itching in the eyes, nose block and you feel like clearing your throat. This goes on till about 8, 9 or 10 o’clock and after that, they get better and through the day they are fine.
Allergic rhinitis runs in the family. The father, mother, uncle, aunt, or somebody in the family will have it. Throughout the day when they are exposed to dust or any pollutant, sneezing and runny nose starts again.
Why it happens, what is the mechanism behind it? Let us not get into all that, let us just look at what we can do about it.
Allopathic approach:
You go to the ENT doctor or physician, they will diagnose it as allergic rhinitis and the only treatment they give you is anti-allergens like Cetirizine, Avil, or Allegra on an everyday basis. As long as you take it, you do not sneeze but once you stop it, you start sneezing again.
It is fixing the problem temporarily, but it is not curing the problem. How long will you go on taking anti-allergens? If this does not help, they put you on steroids, they will tell you have deviated nasal septum and you have to go in for an operation. Then they will tell you that you have sinusitis. The list is endless.
Homeopathic approach:
We have been treating allergic rhinitis very successfully with homeopathy. Allergic rhinitis is a process that is happening from the inside, you are sneezing because your body is reacting to some kind of allergen and that mechanism has to stop. Homeopathic medicines will prevent your body from reacting to that allergen and over a period of time you can completely get rid of allergic rhinitis.
Once you start our medications within a few weeks your sneezing, runny nose will come down. It is not going to stop, it will come down. If you are sneezing hundred times a day, it will come down to 50, 40, 30, 20, and eventually, over a few months, it will completely disappear.
You might have sneezing once in a while when you are exposed to dust or allergens, all of us have that but the everyday morning torture that you go through can be completely taken care of with Homeopathy.
On a day when it is very bad and you are continuously sneezing take an anti-allergen as an SOS but not on an everyday basis. How long can you go on taking anti-allergens? I am not against anti-allergen, take it once in a while when the problem is very bad, but on a daily basis continue homeopathy, and over a period of time you can get rid of allergic rhinitis.
People who are already on allopathic medication:
We make them to stop their allopathic medication and ask them to take Homeopathy for three months. In some cases where the allergic rhinitis is chronic, we start homeopathic medicines along with allopathy, and over a period of time, we taper off their allopathic medicines.
What happens if you don’t treat allergic rhinitis?
If left alone, the frequency and intensity of sneezes keep on increasing, you have to go through the same thing every morning and it makes your life miserable.

Get your AC filter cleaned frequently, keep your bed out in the sun, if you have carpets in the room remove the carpet, find out if you are allergic to your pets, these are few things that can help but they are not a solution.
What would I do if I were in your place?
I would for sure not start allopathic medications or go for surgery. I know that I am not risking anything by giving Homeopathy around 6 months to try and get rid of allergic rhinitis.
Do not start on any allopathic medications until you have given Homeopathy a try for at least about three to six months. Trust me, nothing is going to happen to you in these three to six months’ time. But if these medicines can help you get rid of allergic rhinitis for the rest of your life, isn’t it worth giving it a try?
