Dyspepsia:
We get a lot of people who have just been diagnosed with dyspepsia or who have been taking allopathic medications, coming to us asking if we can help them.

How common is Dyspepsia?
In World, around 49% of people suffer from dyspepsia.

Symptoms of Dyspepsia:
Dyspepsia is very common, you find a lot of people burping, farting, rubbing their tummy, particularly after a meal they are so uncomfortable that they think, Ah, wish I had not eaten so much.

There are a lot of ladies who come to me and say, you press any part of my body and I start burping. Bloating is the most troublesome thing, you have discomfort, you feel full, and rub your tummy all the time.

Causes of acidity:
Many things cause acidity. Stress, the food we eat can lead to acidity. There are some people who lead a disciplined life but they still have bloating, which means it is because of genetics, it runs in the family, you are born with a weak stomach.

Allopathic approach:
They put you on antacids and few other medicines, and you are fine while you are taking them, all your symptoms are in control. But once you stop them, you are back to square one. You become addicted to antacids and it becomes very difficult to live without them

Homeopathic approach:
Most people with a strong family history of gastric troubles can be taken care of with homeopathic medicines. I am not saying we can completely cure it, but I can make it much better.

Once you start homeopathic medications, within few months, your burps, flatulence, bloating will come down and you feel a lot more comfortable. There will be a few instances where you feel uncomfortable particularly the day you have eaten too much food.

We also give you SOS medicines that can help you with bloating. Usually bloating, acidity, burning in the throat, chest, and abdomen all come together and they can be treated together.

People who are already on allopathic medications:
For people who are already on allopathic medicines on a daily basis for many years, we ask them to start on homeopathic medicines along with allopathy, and over some time we gradually taper off the allopathic medications.

Let us say you take antacids every day, we ask you to take it every alternate day, once in 2 days, 3 days and slowly we stop your allopathic medications. They are only on homeopathic medications for some time and over a period of time, you can stop even homeopathic medications.

What happens if you leave it alone?
(If left alone, the bloating, acid reflux, gases keeps on increasing. The bloating causes so much discomfort that you do not feel like eating. When the acid reflux, burps becomes severe it causes irritation of the stomach and oesophagus lining which can lead to inflammation, erosion or ulcers.)

Diet restrictions:
Diet plays a huge role in gas formation. What causes dyspepsia varies from person to person. Some people react to chickpeas, sprouts, spicy food. It is a personalized thing, you are the only one who can say what causes gas, make a note of these things and try to avoid them for some time.

I cannot tell you what suits you or not, only you can tell that but generally, milk and milk products like paneer, cheese, coffee, and tea aggravate dyspepsia. Try to avoid the, for a few days, go on a lactose-free diet for some time. You can take lactose-free milk, curd, buttermilk, black tea, black coffee, green tea. Avoid too much spicy food.

Do’s and Don’ts:
I would highly recommend that you go on a diet which I have given on my websitewww.drkaisrani.com, this diet has tremendously helped a lot of people come out of acidity and bloating. It is a bowl diet to be had every 4 hourly, there are no food restrictions, you can eat whatever you want, take a look at it, if it resonates with you, give it a try.

What would I do if I was in your place?
I would for sure not start on antacids or any allopathic medications. I know that I am not risking anything by giving Homeopathy around 3 to 6 months to try and get rid of dyspepsia.

Do not start on any allopathic medicines until you have given Homeopathy a try for at least about three to six months. Trust me, nothing is going to happen to you in these three to six months’ time. But if these medicines can help you get rid of gases, bloating, burps, and burning for the rest of your life, isn’t it worth giving it a try?

Take care.
