The uric acid crystallizes and the crystals deposit in joints, tendons and surrounding tissues. Excess of uric acid formation in our body may be due to decreased removal of uric acid by the kidneys, excess amounts of food which are high in purine, or excess production of uric acid. Alcohol intake weakens the removal of uric acid from our body. So the excess amount of uric acid gets deposited in joint spaces and subsequently leads to gout. It is characterised by recurrent attacks of acute inflammatory arthritis. The joints are affected especially the big toe. Other joints like the heels, knees, wrists, elbows, ankles and fingers may be affected.

How common is Gout
In World, around 2 in 1000 people suffer from Gout. It is more prevalent in men than in women.
What is Gout?
You wake up in the morning and you suddenly find that you are having pain in your foot, you look down and you find a swelling and redness at the base of your big toe and you wonder what is happening as there is no pain anywhere else in the body. You take a painkiller and you feel better for some time but the pain, swelling, and redness continues and it becomes unbearable.
Gout is nothing but uric acid crystals that get deposited in the joints. Usually, it affects the base of the big toe, but in bad cases of gout other joints can also get affected.
Allopathic approach:
The doctor checks it and says it looks like gout, let us get a uric acid test done, you get it done and your uric acid levels are high and then the doctor diagnoses it as gout and puts you on goutnil or some other medicines. You take them for about 2 to 3 months’ time and the pain goes away. But once you stop the medications, the next time you eat chicken or mutton or have a drink, the next morning you end up with pain, swelling, and redness again. The doctor puts you on medicines again and says be on these medicines and do not stop them. How long will you be on these medicines? Are you comfortable taking them lifelong?
Gout is directly related to diet. What you eat can cause gout instantly. You eat something, the next morning you wake up with the problem, that is how instant it can be. Diet is very important for a gout patient. So you maintain your diet, you stop eating so many things, you go on taking the tablets but one day, you get frustrated and eat something, the next day you are back to square one even if you are on medication, what is the solution now?
Homeopathic approach:
We have been able to help a lot of people with gout. Homeopathy believes in treating the tendency or diathesis for gout as we call it.
Why are you getting it in the first place? There is something that is going wrong with your metabolism which is causing uric acid levels to increase and crystals to be deposited. It is not happening to everybody, right? I am eating everything and I do not have a problem. That means there is something wrong with your metabolism and Homeopathy believes in correcting that. It corrects it to such an extent that the next time you have meat or anything that you are not supposed to have, it will not cause crystal formation, that is why Homeopathy takes a little time but it is a permanent relief.
I am not saying we can cure gout in 3 to 6 months, but if you are just diagnosed with gout, once we start you on homeopathic medications, you will recover a lot faster. But if you are somebody who is already on goutnil or other allopathic medications, we start homeopathic medications simultaneously with allopathy and gradually get you off allopathic medicines.
People do get gout attacks even if they are on homeopathy but the intensity and the frequency of the attack comes down every time to an extent where you could eat anything, have a drink and you will not get an attack. We continue with homeopathic medications for a while and if you do not have any attacks for the next 3 to 6 months we stop your homeopathic medicines also.
Gout can be taken care of with Homeopathy. You do not have to live all your life not eating this, not eating that. We will help you get back to all those things over a period of time.
People who are already on allopathic medications:
We make them stop their allopathic medication and we ask them to take Homeopathy for three months. In some cases where the gout is chronic and they have been taking allopathic medications for a long time, we start homeopathic medicines along with allopathy, and gradually taper off their allopathic medicines, and over some time we stop their allopathic medications.
What happens if you don’t treat gout?
(The gout attacks become more frequent and more painful. If left untreated for a long time, it causes deposits of urate crystals under the skin which can cause erosion and destruction of the joint.)

This is one of those diseases where your diet is very important so that you do not suffer. Until we are able to help you, you should be aware of what you can and cannot eat. For a change, I would say Google is one of the best sources for you to know what is good and not good for you to eat.
If you can balance your diet along with homeopathic medications, gout can be managed completely.
What would I do if I were in your place?
I would for sure not start on any allopathic medications. I know that I am not risking anything by giving Homeopathy around 3 to 6 months to try and manage gout.
Do not start on any allopathic medications until you have given Homeopathy a try for at least about three to six months. Trust me, nothing is going to happen to you in these three to six months’ time. But if these medicines can help you avoid allopathic medicines and get rid of your gout permanently for the rest of your life, isn’t it worth giving it a try?
