Stricture

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Urethral stricture is the abnormal narrowing of the urethra (the tube that releases urine from the body).

We have many patients approaching us after they have gone through all the possible allopathic treatment including urethral dilatation once a week at the least. We have been able to help them stop the dilatation and relieve them of all the symptoms associated with urethral stricture. No surgical intervention or dilatation should be tried unless homeopathy has been tried.

Stricture or stricture urethra:
It is surprising how many people, specifically youngsters have this problem. Boys as young as 20, 22 years with urethral stricture come to us asking if we can help.

One day you suddenly get up to pee and you feel that you cannot pass urine, even if you struggle you cannot pass urine for some time, and then maybe a few drops pass and a little more passes and you think it is okay but it happens again, and you suddenly realize that damn, I am not able to pass urine well.

How common is urethral stricture?
Around 0.6% of the population suffers from urethral stricture.

What is the stricture?
A stricture is a constriction where your urinary tract becomes smaller, since the opening is very small the urine passes with difficulty. Sometimes the urinary tract even closes and your urine output stops.

You might have lower abdominal pain, burning urination, anxiety because you are not able to pass urine. See you never realized how important it is to pass urine because you have been doing it every day. The moment you are not able to pass urine, you realize it’s importance.

Why does stricture happen?
Most of the time, in youngsters, I have observed that stricture happens because of kidney stones.

Kidney stones are sharp stones and when they pass through the urinary tract, at some point it causes a cut. Any cut which happens on the body heals with fibrosis, a hard issue. Similarly, in the urinary tract which is already small, when a hard tissue forms, it blocks the passage through which urine passes. This is one of the commonly observed cause.

Allopathic approach:
Naturally, you get worried and go to the urologist, the urologist will put you through a series of tests, he will put something into your penis and will tell you that you have got urethral stricture and you need to go for dilatation. In dilatation, they insert a catheter through your urethra, once it goes inside, it clears up the block and dilates it and you can pass urine for some time but most of the times, the stricture is known to come back. There are people who go for dilatation once in 2 days, a week, 10 days, 20 days. It depends on how bad their condition is.

Allopathy has very limited options for stricture. They cannot do much except for dilatation. In some cases where dilatation does not help, they do a surgery where they bypass the entire thing. It is very complicated.

Homeopathic approach:
We usually get people who were already on dilatation every 2 days, a week or every 10 days. There are also people who have not started dilatation and come to us and we have been able to help them. Once you start on homeopathic medications, the medicines starts to dissolve the hard things which are blocking the lumen and clears off the passage over a period of time.

Trust me urethral stricture does not go away very soon. It is a long-drawn treatment and will take months to years, but we can help you. We have had tremendous success in urethral stricture cases.

People who are already on dilatation:
For people who have been going for dilatation, we ask them to start homeopathic medicines along with dilatation. Let us say they are going for dilatation every week. Once they start on the homeopathic medications, they’re able to go for dilatations once in three weeks, four weeks, five weeks, two months, and three months. We gradually reduce the duration of the dilatations.

What happens if you leave it alone?
(If left alone, you will continue to have difficulty passing urine. You might develop kidney stones, urinary or testicular infections causing lower abdominal pain, blood in urine, fever and chills. There is a risk of urinary retention which could lead to an enlarged bladder and kidney problems.)

Do’s and Don’ts:
(There is nothing much you can do, but try homeopathy before going for anything aggressive. Homeopathy is a very simple treatment.)

What would I do if I was in your place?
I would for sure not go for dilatation or surgery. I know that I am not risking anything by giving Homeopathy around 3 to 6 months to try and manage urethral stricture.

Do not go for dilatation or surgery until you have given Homeopathy a try for at least about three to six months. Trust me, nothing is going to happen to you in these three to six months’ time. But if these medicines can help you manage urethral stricture without dilatation and avoid surgery for the rest of your life, isn’t it worth giving it a try?
