A 10-Year-Old Girl’s Struggle with Unusual Phobias and Health Issues: A Success Story of Homeopathic Treatment

The parents of a 10-year-old girl reached out for help regarding their daughter’s unusual phobias. Along with physical issues, the girl was struggling with strange and persistent fears, including a fear of bathrooms, isolation, dogs, and stomach pain. She was plagued by constant worries and anxieties, affecting her daily life.

Detailed Case Discussion

Upon further analysis, the following issues were identified:

  • Severe Fear of Bathrooms / Toilet Phobia: The girl could not go to the bathroom alone. Someone had to be with her at all times. She could not bear the thought of being in a bathroom for an extended period, and the idea of closing the bathroom door was unimaginable. She could not bathe alone; only her mother standing by her allowed her to bathe.
  • Nighttime Fears: At night, she would surround herself with pillows, fearing that something might come. She was unsure of the source of her fear but felt that something was hiding under her bed.
  • Fear of the Roof: She was terrified of going upstairs, believing that there was a large lizard without a nose on the roof.
  • Extreme Fear of Injections or Pins or Needles – Trypanophobia: She had a severe fear of injections. When the school’s vaccination team came to administer the COVID vaccine, she cried uncontrollably, and her father had to be called to calm her down. This fear of injections was recurrent whenever medical procedures were involved.
  • Fear of Dogs / Cynophobia: The mere sight of a dog, even from a distance, was enough to paralyze her with fear. She would freeze and start crying uncontrollably, unable to be reassured that the dog was far away.
  • Thunder and Lightning: Although she loved the rain, the sound of thunder and the sight of lightning made her lose control. She would scream and become cold with fear, clinging to her father until the storm passed.
  • Physical Complaints: She frequently experienced chest tightness in the morning, loss of appetite, and stomach pains. Whenever she tried to have breakfast, she would feel pain and discomfort after eating just a few bites, causing her to go to school without breakfast.
  • Long-standing Complaints of Stomach Worms and Lice: Since childhood, she had dealt with stomach worms. Despite using various medications, including homeopathic and allopathic treatments, the issue would recur after a few days. Additionally, lice in her hair were a frequent problem that couldn’t be controlled despite using anti-lice shampoos.
  • Urinary and Digestive Issues: She frequently experienced a burning sensation while urinating and sometimes cried out due to the intensity of the pain. Stomach pain was a constant issue, and she often suffered from restless sleep, drooling at night.
  • Behavioral Traits: She loved to play all day without tiring and preferred running games. She had an outgoing, talkative, and friendly nature, well known throughout the neighborhood. However, when she cried, it was extremely difficult to calm her down.

Analysis of the Case: A Homeopathic Perspective

The girl’s case was complex. While her friendly nature pointed towards Phosphorus, her intense burning sensation and morning anxiety suggested Sulphur. Remedies like Lycopodium, Stramonium, and Cantharis also seemed to be potential indicators for this case. However, the complexity of the symptoms made this case both easy and difficult at the same time. Treatment with Phosphorus and Stramonium showed minimal improvement.

Upon further investigation, it became clear that the girl had an intense emotional attachment to her father and a strong desire for attention. She was reluctant to share things with her siblings and would often act out to attract attention. She had a tendency to be disturbed by rich foods and was sensitive to changes in her health. A key symptom was her constant dependency on others to gain attention, even in basic life matters. Her tendency to cry over small issues and become overwhelmed was significant. The need for emotional comfort in enclosed spaces was a defining feature.

This description led us to consider Pulsatilla as the most appropriate remedy.

Treatment and Progress

After administering Pulsatilla in various potencies, the case gradually started to improve. The girl’s issues with worms and lice disappeared, and her stomach pains resolved. She began eating breakfast regularly, showing increased interest in her studies. The constant crying and emotional volatility also subsided. During this time, temporary remedies were given based on her ongoing symptoms, but Pulsatilla proved to be the key remedy for long-term improvement.

The most significant change was in her phobias. Her fear of bathrooms, injections, and thunderstorms diminished drastically. She started going to the bathroom on her own, bathing alone, and even enjoying thunderstorms. The injection fear was eliminated, and she calmly received vaccinations without any anxiety.

Mother’s Feedback:

“My daughter had been suffering from stomach worms since a very young age. We tried all kinds of treatments—homeopathic, allopathic, and even traditional remedies—but nothing worked permanently. Whenever the treatments seemed to work, the worms would return after a few days. As she grew older, her health problems escalated. She frequently complained of stomach pain, burning during urination, Urinary tract infections (UTIs), and persistent lice in her hair. She refused to eat breakfast and often moved around restlessly in bed at night, drooling while she slept. The most distressing issue was her irrational fears. She couldn’t go to the bathroom alone, and we had to stay with her. We couldn’t even send her to a friend’s house because of this fear.

I thought her fears would diminish as she grew older, but they only intensified. Her fear of the bathroom was especially troubling, and she couldn’t go to the bathroom alone until she turned 10. We tried everything, but it wasn’t just a cold or fever that could be treated with antibiotics. Her problems were strange, and finding a solution seemed just as strange.

Dr. Hussain Kaisrani treated her for over a year. The progress was gradual, but we saw improvements. Her stomach worms, lice, and stomach pain were all resolved. She started having breakfast and sleeping better. The most significant change was in her fears, especially the bathroom fear. Now she goes to the bathroom on her own and even enjoys rainstorms. I am extremely grateful for Dr. Hussain Kaisrani’s best treatment, which has transformed my daughter’s life.”

Conclusion:

This case highlights how homeopathy, particularly the remedy Pulsatilla, can be extremely effective in treating complex and emotional-based disorders in children. For parents struggling with similar issues, Dr. Hussain Kaisrani is highly recommended for his expertise in treating such cases.
